The amount of CBD you should take depends on a range of factors, including:
- your body weight
- your individual body chemistry
- the concentration of CBD you are using.
Why am I taking CBD in the first place?
If you are reading this then there is no doubt that you are somewhat aware of the possible health benefits of CBD. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of over 60 active compounds in the cannabis plant. These active compounds, known as cannabinoids, affect your body in many different ways.
CBD has no psychoactive properties; it will not give you a “high” as such however its been shown to play a role in a number of areas that are particularly of interest to athletes such as:
- Improved sleep
- Reducing pain
- Reducing inflammation
- Very positive impact on mood and wellbeing.
Just to name a few. Irrespective of whatever condition or problem you are looking to help with CBD it is important to give yourself the correct dosage otherwise you will find it may not work as effectively for you.
What is the official dosage?
Due to CBD not being regulated by the FDA there is no “official” dosage as such, this means it may be hard for an individual to understand just how much they should be taking, so let us help you out.
First of all, it’s important to understand that so far research and studies have shown that there is definitely no universal dosage in humans when it comes to CBD.
Researchers have used doses from 20mg up to 1500mg per day with little to no negative side effects, the side effects that have presented have been;
- Changes in appetite
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea
- Changes in weight.
The total recorded deaths from CBD are still equal to the number of people that have been gorged to death by unicorns, so no need to panic.
How do I figure out the right amount for me then?
Thus, it’s widely recommended to start “low and slow” building up until you have the desired effect. It is also recommended that you track and gradually increase the amount, for example if you have mild pain and inflammation, you may start with around 20mg per day and increase it by 5mg until you reach the desire effect.
Similar if you are looking to achieve a better night’s sleep, you may take a similar dosage of 20mg, 30 to 45 minutes before you go to sleep then gradually increase it until you achieve your desired result.
That’s great but how do I figure out how to give myself 20mg?
Calculating this is a lot easier than what you might think.
A drop from a standard tincture bottle is 0.05ml (not a full dropper, a drop you crazy cats), so if the bottle is 30ml, (which of course is the only size we run in all of our Enhancd CBD tinctures), then you simply divide 30ml by 0.05ml giving you 600 drops per bottle.
You then divide the strength of the tincture by the number of drops, so 1000mg by 600 drops means you are at 1.6mg per drop.
If you wanted to use 20mg per day you would use around 12 drops and your 30ml tincture would last you around 50 days.
If you want to keep it simple and go by full of half dropper that’s even easier, a full dropper in a 30ml bottle is typically 1ml, half a dropper is half a ml.
So, if you are taking a full dropper each day you are using 30ml per day and your bottle will last you 30 days.
When it comes to gummies the mg is typically stated per gummy, so no calculation required.
A final note
The most important thing is that you use only the best quality products, not all CBD products are created equal.
Some things to look out for are CBD products that are organic, non-GMO, how the CBD is extracted, the ingredient’s, the type, is the product third party tested, is the third-party lab reputable and certified.
